Why the FBI wants you to reboot your router — and why that won’t be enough next time
Our recommendation is to replace your router, and contacting us is the best first step. For a free network security assessment contact us at (310) 910-9033 or info@inctech.net.
If you want to make sure your router is no longer infected and cannot be reinfected, you need to do more than reboot your router, the FBI’s warning notwithstanding. You need to reset the router to its factory settings. That means you need to reconfigure it for your network, which can be a pain if you’re not sophisticated in these matters.
Below is a newly expanded list of vulnerable devices a which could permit the attackers to perform man-in-the-middle (MitM) attacks on traffic going through vulnerable routers and allow them to intercept web traffic and insert malicious code into it.
